Some Alternative Media Sources
this page needs lots of editions....i don't have the energy and time to add them all, sorry
Independent Media Centers (IMCs) around the world carry news of protests of all kinds and of many protests against the US war threat. IMC web sites allow anyone to post pictures and articles and do their own reporting on activist issues. Sometimes there are reports with sound and video on the web sites also. IMC's sometimes produce print newspapers. This main site will link you to every Independent Media Center in the World. There are a number of them in the United States.
The DC Independent Media Center often has pictures and articles about anti-war protests in Washington DC which gives a more accurate view of the events than the nanosecond news clips you can see on corporate news networks as the people who were actually there can do the reporting and put up their pictures. If you go to a demonstration and have some pictures, you can find instructions on the IndyMedia sites on how to upload them.
Common Dreams.org is a news center for progressive news, using articles from a wide variety of mainstream and not-so-mainstream newspapers and magazines to give people easy access to articles and editorials of interest to progressive-minded people, and they have many articles on the war on Iraq and related US government actions and policies. There is a running column called "Ari and I" with real questions and answers from Ari Fleischer's White House press conferences which is quite amusing sometimes. At this web site you can also buy bumper stickers that say No War on Iraq.
Democracy Now! is a great, progressive source of news on the radio, which you can listen to either online, or if Pacifica airs on a radio station in your area, on the radio. NPR very stupidly took Democracy Now off their airwaves, but it has not left the airwaves thanks to many devoted listeners. Amy Goodman is the host of Democracy Now! and provides intelligent news.
Alternet.org is another alternative media site with a section of news about the war on Iraq. They also have an internet message board where people can join for free and post their opinions.
Antiwar.Com has frequently updated news about the war on Iraq and anti-war activities.
